Two solid wood ceiling boards from Italy, dating to 1850–1900, each 160 cm high, 31 cm wide and 3 cm deep, featuring a symmetrical ornamental motif with stylised floral elements finished in a patinated mix of ochre, brick red, sage green and pale blue.
Description from the seller
These are precious rectangular boards in solid wood, presumably salvaged from ancient decorative architectural elements, such as moldings, chest-panel panels, or coffered ceilings. Their presence evokes the charm of historic craftsmanship and the value of artifacts designed to embellish representative spaces.
Motif decorativo
The surface is enriched with an ornamental composition of great visual balance, characterized by a modular and perfectly symmetrical motif. At the center of each element unfold elegant stylized florals, encircled by sinuous vegetal scrolls and refined decorative curls, in an aesthetic language that recalls Baroque sensibilities and influences from the traditional decorative folk heritage.
Cromia e finitura
The polychromy, rich in shades and skillfully patinated by time, alternates warm ochre and brick-red tones with delicate sage greens and subtle blue accents. The dark background enhances the depth of the ornament, while the lived-in and slightly weathered effect gives the piece extraordinary authenticity, highlighting the historic character and the timeless elegance of the artifact.
