Helmut Newton - A gun for hire, selection - 2016

The exhibition arises with a broader objective than a fashion photography show or Helmut Newton’s photographs, and for this we owe thanks to the Helmut Newton Foundation and to June Newton, who understood the meaning and the project of “this” “A gun for hire.” With the title “A gun for hire,” the great traveling retrospective is indeed considered, first staged in Monte Carlo in 2005, which precisely illustrates Helmut Newton’s work for the fashion world, including campaigns for the most important fashion houses of the time and features for the most significant magazines, from the 1960s up to his death in 2004. This Carpi presentation is therefore an original selection never before exhibited in Italy, which, by further introducing the author, links to the economic context of Carpi in the 1990s and to the choices of a company deeply rooted in the Blumarine region.
