Marino Piotti, known in art as Dean Marino, born in 1982, is an Italian sculptor/designer from Valtrompia. From a young age, he has lived with a close, tangible relationship to the elements of his country. He creates sculptures from natural elements such as wood and iron, giving them a new life while maintaining a strong connection to his origin. His goal is to create an indispensable bond between humans and nature. His mission is the regeneration of matter.

Knots and natural scars are emanations of the Wabi-sabi philosophy that envelops the sculpture

Moroshi is a cedar table, treated with the Yakisugi technique, an ancient Japanese method that burns wood with heat to create a fire-resistant surface that reveals the beautiful grain patterns. The technique was used in Japan for centuries and remains popular today.

The minimalist design and the Wabi-sabi philosophy in which it is steeped make Moroshi a perfect complement to any modern environment. An excellent choice for those seeking a unique design with a seamless, integrable aesthetic in any setting. A wonderful addition for any home, whether in a modern space or a more traditional one.

Finished with oils and natural waxes.

Technique:
Yakisugi (焼杉) is a traditional Japanese method for wood preservation. Yaki means heating with fire and sugi is cedar. In the West it is referred to as charred wood cladding and also known as shou sugi ban (焼杉板) which uses the same kanji characters but with a mispronunciation. The character ban means "table".
By lightly carbonizing the surface of the wood without burning the entire piece, the wood becomes waterproof through carbonization and is therefore harder. It also protects against insects and makes the wood flame-retardant.

Philosophy:
Wabi-sabi (侘寂) forms a worldview of Japanese aesthetics, based on accepting the transience and imperfection of things. This vision, sometimes described as "beautiful imperfection, transience and imperfection", is derived from the Buddhist teaching of anitya (transience).
