Description from the seller
Splendid antique carved and leaf-gilded wooden frame - Louis XIV / Baroque style - Italy, 19th Century
Elegant and richly appointed antique parade frame, entirely made of wood finely hand-carved and clad in precious gold leaf. The piece stands out for an opulent continuous carving with vegetal motifs, dominated by classic curled acanthus leaves and relief volutes that create a beautiful play of light and shadow. The inner linear rabbet contrasts splendidly with the richness of the external decoration, giving depth and importance to any artwork it encloses.
The object features a magnificent antique patina, warm and darkened, typical of the natural aging of the gilding over time. An item of high antiquarian value, ideal for enhancing period paintings, mirrors, or to be displayed as an autonomous decorative element in elite interiors.
