A clipper is a type of fast cargo sailing vessel that originated in the United States and enjoyed its heyday in the mid-19th century.
The most striking features were a sharply clipped bow with hollow lines (clipper bow), a pronounced keel rake, a narrow beam relative to length, and the high speeds that could be achieved.
These characteristics resulted in limited cargo space in favor of speed.
The masts, topmasts and spars were relatively large.
Often extra headsails were flown.
This extensive rigging required a large crew.
Two masts are indeed missing!!!!!
