Tunis, types arabes, a circa 1895 photolithographic print by Photochrom Zürich (XIX), measuring 16 by 22 cm, signed in gold letters in a bottom cartouche and in Très Très Beau (TTB) condition.
Description from the seller
Circa 1895, 22x16 cm.
"Tunis, arabes types", a very pretty view animated by Photochrom Zurich.
A very fine vintage photolithographic print, free and not mounted (rare).
Very good preservation of contrasts, colors, and levels of detail.
Signed and captioned in gold lettering in a cartouche at the bottom of the print.
Small conservator's note, to be enjoyed.
It will be shipped with a neutral pH sleeve and a cardboard support (ideal for preservation in good conditions).
Founded in Zurich at the end of the 19th century, Photochrom Zürich — which became Photoglob Zürich in 1895 — specialized in distributing color views obtained from black-and-white photographic negatives. Several of these prints, notably for the Orient and North Africa, reproduced images by travel photographers such as Félix Bonfils, whose photographs served as the basis for these compositions between photography and lithography.
