Fascinating and large Italian travel trunk dating from the early decades of the 20th century (the 1910s/1920s), the golden era of great train and steamship travel.
The piece features a wooden structure covered in thick ochre/brown fabric, enriched by vertical wooden strengthening battens and studded metallic edges on the corners. The front is decorated with contrasting geometric frames printed on and three historic metal and burnished brass locks. Thanks to its generous dimensions, today it is a vintage decorative accessory of great style, ideal as an original coffee table, under-bed storage container, or scenographic element for spaces in industrial or mid-century modern styles.
Condition: The item remains in its original found state and shows the classic, fascinating signs of time and use that attest to its history. Notable wear on the exterior fabric with tears and evident edge damage along the borders and central closure line. The hardware shows natural metal oxidation and the lateral leather handles are missing. The wooden structure remains overall robust. Photos are an integral part of the lot description.
