Description from the seller

Blaupunkt Diva – Vintage German 4-Band Portable Transistor Radio Receiver – 1968–1971

Offered here is the Blaupunkt Diva, a beautifully designed vintage German portable transistor radio receiver from the late 1960s to early 1970s. Produced between approximately 1968 and 1971, the Diva represents the elegant and practical style of European portable radios from this period, combining compact travel-radio convenience with the solid engineering quality associated with Blaupunkt.

This model offers reception across FM, Medium Wave, Short Wave, and Long Wave, making it a versatile portable receiver for domestic and international radio listening. With its distinctive black and silver styling, large front speaker grille, chrome control knobs, telescopic antenna, and integrated carrying handle, the Blaupunkt Diva has a very attractive mid-century technical appearance.

The radio is also notable for its internal construction, using a transistorised superheterodyne circuit, a built-in loudspeaker, and battery operation, making it a fine example of German portable radio design from the period when transistor receivers were becoming common household and travel companions.

Historical Background

Blaupunkt was one of Germany’s most respected radio and audio manufacturers, well known for both domestic radio receivers and high-quality car audio equipment. During the 1960s and early 1970s, Blaupunkt produced a wide range of portable transistor radios aimed at listeners who wanted reliable reception, elegant styling, and convenient battery operation.

The Blaupunkt Diva belongs to this important period of radio development, when transistor technology allowed radios to become more compact, more efficient, and easier to use outside the home. Unlike many simple portable sets, the Diva offered multiple wavebands, including FM, medium wave, short wave, and long wave, giving the listener access to local, national, and international broadcasts.

The styling of this model is especially attractive, with its black top panel, silver front trim, chrome controls, and large speaker grille. It reflects the practical yet refined design language of late-1960s German consumer electronics.

Today, Blaupunkt portable radios such as the Diva are appreciated by collectors for their build quality, attractive design, technical interest, and historical connection to the golden age of European radio broadcasting.

Condition

This Blaupunkt Diva is presented in genuine vintage condition, as shown in the photographs.

As expected for a radio of this age, there are visible signs of age and use, including cosmetic marks, surface wear, small scratches, and some staining or discolouration on the speaker grille and internal battery area. These age-related signs are consistent with a portable radio that is over 50 years old and add to its authentic vintage character. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the actual item being offered.

Collectable Value

The Blaupunkt Diva is a desirable vintage portable radio for collectors of German radios, transistor receivers, mid-century electronics, and classic European broadcast equipment. Its four-band reception, elegant styling, chrome details, telescopic aerial, and practical portable format make it an attractive display and collection piece. Collectors particularly appreciate models from this era because they represent the transition from larger valve radios to compact transistorised portable receivers. The Diva combines technical charm, visual appeal, and historic value in a very collectable Blaupunkt design.
