A Victorian turned Rosewood centerpiece from England dating to the 19th century, measuring 12.5 cm high with a 23.5 cm dish diameter and 11.5 cm base diameter, in very good condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Elegant and important turned rosewood table centerpiece, presumably English-made in the 19th century, an expression of the finest Victorian cabinetmaking tradition. The piece immediately impresses with the purity of its forms and the extraordinary quality of the wood, characterized by a spectacular figured flame and marbling that create a natural, highly decorative pattern.
Entirely turned on the lathe, it features a wide slightly concave plate supported by a refined central baluster shaft and a proportioned moulded base. The workmanship highlights notable artisanal mastery, with soft, balanced profiles that give the whole a timeless, elegant presence.
The rosewood, today especially sought after by collectors and lovers of fine furnishings, shows deep tones ranging from warm brown to darker almost ebony shades, enhanced by the original polish that adds depth and brightness to the surface. The richness of the grain makes every side of the object different from the others, turning it into a true wooden sculpture.
Originally intended to present fruit, desserts, or ornamental arrangements on the tables of the most prestigious homes, today it represents a refined piece of furniture capable of enhancing both classic interiors and contemporary environments.
Dimensions: height 12.5 cm, plate diameter 23.5 cm, base diameter 11.5 cm.
Very good condition. Shows normal signs of wear compatible with age and use, light surface wear and some natural wood movement lines visible on the top, testimony to the authenticity of the artifact and the natural movement of solid wood over the decades. Structurally solid, stable, and perfectly usable.
Our in-house interior designer recommends: ideal as a representative centerpiece, decorative element on a console, coffee tables, or high-end bookshelves, where the extraordinary rosewood grain becomes the undisputed protagonist of the space.
The photos are an integral part of the description. Packaging is reliably performed by industry professionals.
