A girls' high school by the sea, shrouded in a sense of alienation. The subtle emotions of the girls waver amidst their mundane daily lives... The film "blue," based on the original work by popular manga artist Kiriko Nananan and starring Mikako Ichikawa, has been attracting attention. This book is a photo collection by up-and-coming photographer Rinko Kawauchi, who, based on the naive worldview inherent in Kiriko Nananan's original work, gently and coolly expresses the blue, wavering images unique to a certain period in the lives of these girls. Kawauchi accompanied the film crew on set and captured on film the passion that lurked between silence and passion in the girls as she saw it. Along with the charm of Mikako Ichikawa, who made a major leap forward as an actress with this film (winning the Best Actress Award at the 24th Moscow International Film Festival for this role), another "blue" is born here.
