Papal Apostolic Blessing – Pius XI (1922-1939)
Rare richly illuminated Catholic devotional document, featuring a photographic portrait of Pope Pius XI, accompanied by a personalized apostolic blessing granted to « Marguerite Schwertfeger and her family ».
The document is adorned with polychrome historiated initials, the papal arms, and a large dry seal from the Vatican. The text grants the apostolic blessing as well as the plenary indulgence in articulo mortis (at the hour of death), according to the official formula then in use.
Signed by Carolus Pansoni, bishop and officer of the Roman Curia, with a handwritten note dated 11 April 1920. The old gilded frame is preserved.
Good overall condition, with light signs of wear consistent with age.
