Description from the seller
Structure in gilded wood (gold leaf gilding):
The base is entirely carved and gilded. The gilding is typical of representative consoles of the period.
The front legs are typically "S"-shaped (cabriole), starting wide at the top and ending with an elegant volute in "pied de biche" (stag’s hoof). They are richly carved with acanthus leaf motifs, rocaille (shell motifs), and volutes.
The lower edge of the top is decorated with a very elaborate central frieze, with symmetric volutes, floral motifs and a central shell element or cartouche, classic of Rococo.
Marble top:
It is made of a beautiful veined red marble (probably Breccia or an ancient red marble), with white and gray veins that create a very precious natural effect. The edge is slightly shaped and follows the curved line of the structure.
