Description from the seller
IN LISTING:
• Iconic two-door 1980 Jeep Cherokee Chief off-road vehicle
• Rare and sought-after manual transmission paired with the 4x4 drivetrain
• Certificate of registration with the ASI Historic Register present
• Mechanics in working order with the engine bay and underbody well preserved
• Original interior in fabric and vinyl well preserved
HISTORY/PANORAMA:
Conceived in the mid-1970s on a Wagoneer platform, the two-door Jeep Cherokee Chief represents one of the most fascinating and rugged American icons in the vintage off-road scene. This 1980 example combines the unmistakable style of the side graphics "Cherokee Chief" with the two-door configuration and a rare manual transmission. The car is in good overall preserved condition and is already registered in the ASI Historic Register.
BODYWORK/PAINT:
The maroon/metallized red bodywork appears sound and in good original condition. The paint shows minimal signs of wear perfectly compatible with the vehicle’s age. The black "Cherokee Chief" graphics on the sides, the chrome bumpers, the front grilles and the external moldings are well preserved. The glass is sound and the vehicle is fitted with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires in good tread.
INTERIOR:
The cabin presents in well-preserved original condition. The front seats and rear bench retain the period gray fabric upholstery with black vinyl trim. The dashboard with machined metal finishes and the original instrumentation are complete. The three-spoke steering wheel, door panels, rear cargo area trim and controls (including the ignition and the levers for the manual transmission and transfer case) are preserved.
MECHANICS:
The engine bay is clean, orderly and without obvious modifications. The powerplant is paired with the manual transmission. The braking system is equipped with power brakes and the battery is installed. The mechanics are functioning and the chassis/underbody shows no evident damage or structural issues.
DOCUMENTS:
The car is accompanied by proof of registration with the ASI Historic Register.
Possibility of home delivery both in Italy and abroad, with costs borne by the buyer. The car is viewable and pick-up by appointment.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
