Description from the seller
Luigi Filippo Console in Lombard Walnut – Mid-19th Century
This magnificent console represents an excellent testimony to the Luigi Filippo style, produced in Lombardy around the middle of the nineteenth century. The style, which spread during the reign of Louis-Philippe of Orléans, is characterized by a return to softer and more sinuous lines compared to the preceding Neoclassicism, while maintaining a solidity and formal dignity perfect for furnishing noble residences and the upper middle class of the era.
The use of Lombard walnut is evident in the tight grain and the warm, deep tone of the wood, typical of the cabinetmaking productions of Northern Italy. The piece preserves its splendid original patina, underscoring its authenticity and historical character.
This console is a piece of great antique importance, perfect for furnishing a representative entrance, a spacious hallway, or a drawing room, acting as a true wooden sculpture capable of drawing attention.
Conditions discrete, with signs of wear due to age (see images)
