Quarries, a first edition hardback signed by Edward Burtynsky, published by Steidl in 2007 in English, 192 pages with a dust jacket, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Rarest copy signed by Edward Burtynsky on the title page. Large-format book, gray cloth binding and illustrated dust jacket. 80 full-page color photographs with captions illustrated by miniature photographs at the end of the book. Copy in excellent condition, like new.
Work from my personal collection kept with the greatest care. Shipment in protected packaging with the utmost care and guaranteed international tracking.
Edward Burtynsky deeply explores the landscape as it has been transformed by industry - in this case, the immense quarries around the world. These works were created over a seventeen-year period, nearly a quarter of a century, across different continents, at Rock of Ages (Vermont, USA), Carrara (Italy), Makrana (Rajasthan), Xiamen (China) and Iberia (Portugal).
These sumptuous photographs, some of which resemble abstract compositions, evoke in us both rejection and fascination; rejection because of the destruction of landscapes and fascination with the creation of a kind of inverted cube-shaped architecture within the mountains or in the depths of the earth.
Copy in excellent condition, practically like new. Book from my personal collection kept with the greatest care. Shipping protected with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international postal tracking. In case of multiple purchases, possibility of grouped shipping with refund of overpaid postage via PayPal.
