Pair of palm vases in gilded brass dating to the 19th century Regno delle Due Sicilie, in a Neobaroque style.
Description from the seller
Pair of Golden Metal Palm-Holder Vases adorned with bouquets of flowers in glass microbeads and beads. – 19th Century Kingdom of the Two Sicilies
Refined and elegant pair of palm-holder vases in cast metal (bronze/copper) gilded. The objects are a classic example of Neapolitan craftsmanship from the second half of the 19th century (full Neobaroque period), characterized by a heavy, richly detailed casting, with prominent scrolled, volute handles and a central convex cartouche typical of Neapolitan artistic tradition. The design directly recalls the luxurious lines of 18th-century Baroque. Objects without marks, as is typical of local artisanal production.
The vases are completed by a precious pair of bouquets handcrafted entirely by hand according to the ancient craft of flowers in microbeads. The bouquets recall tones of white and blue, classic Marian colors. These objects adorned altars or the niches of statues of the Madonna or Saints. The vases feature a main urn-shaped body. Stand out the large volute handles richly decorated with foliate motifs and a central, raised, shaped cartouche. The structure rests on a fluted stem supported by scroll-like feet. The slightly flattened rear silhouette confirms their use as liturgical furnishings.
If desired, the objects can be used as decorative table lamps. A electrification kit is provided, dating to the late last century, fully functional, including plug, cord, switch, and a wooden candlestick with a related turbine. Ideal is the insertion of LED candles with dynamic flame effect or ultra-warm filaments to enhance the gilding of the bronze.
The electrification is totally reversible and non-invasive. No alteration was made to the original metal of the structure; the candles are simply inserted and the wire passes through the hollow body of the vase, preserving 100% the historical-artistic integrity of the pieces.
The items are presented in excellent conservative condition. They show a beautiful, captivating patina of time, maintaining the vintage surface finish. Solid structure and no breakages.
