Description from the seller
~Megalodon tooth from the Miocene – North Carolina, USA
This impressive Megalodon tooth hails from the United States, where fossils like this are found directly on the seabed. This creates a beautifully robust appearance and an authentic, “lived-in” look – pure nature.
This unique tooth has a completely different color on each side, which has to do with the type of mineral in which the tooth was embedded and indicates that the tooth partially sat somewhere, giving it a very unique appearance! You hardly ever see this!
Compared with fossils from other localities, such as Indonesia, US teeth are known for their solid, strong roots and a high degree of originality. Indonesian teeth can sometimes show sharper serrations and a smoother enamel due to the type of sediment in which they are found, but they are also more often restored or even partially reconstructed. In the US, restoration is much less common, so most finds – like this specimen – remain fully authentic.
This tooth is 100% original and unrestored, with a powerful root and beautiful natural details. A special and honest piece for the serious collector who values authenticity.
