Megalodon tooth from the Mioocene period, specimen North Carolina, USA; natural condition and 100% authentic, measuring 9.7 × 7.5 × 1.8 cm.
Description from the seller
Megalodon tooth from the Miocene – North Carolina, USA
This very impressive Megalodon lower jaw tooth comes from the United States, where fossils like these are found directly on the seabed. This gives a beautiful, robust appearance and an authentic, “lived-in” look – pure nature. But this tooth truly has perfect serrations, which is certainly unique among USA teeth!
Compared to fossils from other localities, such as Indonesia, USA teeth are known for their solid, strong roots and high level of originality. Indonesian teeth can sometimes show sharper serrations and a smoother enamel due to the type of sediment in which they are found, but they are also more frequently restored or even partially reconstructed. In the U.S. restoration is much less common, so most discoveries – such as this specimen – have remained fully authentic.
This tooth is 100% original and unrestored, with a powerful root and handsome natural details. A special and honest piece for the serious collector who values authenticity.
