Description from the seller
Elegant Victorian-era tea caddy (circa 1850) in precious solid rosewood, both unflamed and veneered, distinguished by splendid natural flame figuring. Splendid and rich octagonal, sarcophagus‑shaped bombe profile, typical of high English cabinetmaking of the period.
Interior: Features the original four‑compartment layout, with two side compartments for tea and two central circular bays lined with red antique velvet (originally intended for mixing bowls).
Lock and Key: Mechanism enhanced by the original brass plate stamped with the Crown and the inscription "PATENT". Supplied with its original antique key and in perfect working order.
Condition: Very good, with beautiful patina of age. Notable are light, natural signs of wear and small superficial wood slivers due to age, which confirm authenticity.
