Description from the seller
- Sony CDP-M29, a high-fidelity compact disc player released in the late 1980s (around 1988).
It is a "Midi" audio component, meaning it was designed with a narrower width (about 35.5 cm) than the traditional 43 cm, custom-made to integrate Sony's compact modular systems of that era.
Technical Specs and Construction
Device Type: Hi‑Fi Stereo Separate CD Player.
Digital/Analog Converter (D/A): Equipped with the Dual D/A Converter System, which uses dual converters to separate the left and right channels, ensuring excellent stereo separation and sonic clarity.
Supported Formats: Reads standard 12 cm CDs perfectly and also 8 cm CD Singles formats. As your unit is 100% optics, it plays both original CDs and computer-recorded CDs (CD‑R) without problems.
Audio Outputs: Features standard RCA analog outputs (Line Out) on the rear to connect to any amplifier or system.
Power: Operates directly plugged into the mains (AC 220V/230V European standard).
Main Front Panel Features and Functions
Digital Display: Classic Sony fluorescent display that shows the track number in play, index, elapsed/remaining time (Program Time Accumulation Display), and the famous numeric musical calendar. Random Music Sensor (RMS): Smart system that allows programming the exact playback order of the tracks or quickly detecting the next song.
Playback Modes: Shuffle: Random mode to mix the tracks on the disc.
Program: Allows you to create a personalized list with the order of songs you prefer to hear.
Repeat: Repeats a song or the entire album.
Front Controls: Dedicated physical buttons for Play, Pause, Stop, fast forward/rewind, and track skip buttons (AMS - Automatic Music Sensor).
Smooth electronic opening/closing of the disc drawer.
Aesthetic Condition
Excellent: No deep scratches or faded lettering on the front panel, for collectors who prioritize the classic, clean look of vintage equipment.
Mechanical and Optical Integrity: Immediate reading without skips is the most valued factor in a player of this age, since many old models suffer from worn lasers.
