Vintage Bauhaus-style sewing box, 1950s/1960s
Sewing case on wheels — Clean design, Bauhaus spirit
Beautiful vintage sewing box from the 1960s, with the sober, functional character typical of post-war design inspired by Bauhaus.
Made of dark mahogany-stained wood, it rests on four slender square-section feet, mounted on vintage metal-and-rubber wheels — practical and mobile. The lines are straight, with no superfluous ornament: aesthetics take precedence through the rigor of form.
The lid opens to a recessed upper compartment lined with green felt, with a removable tray divided into several compartments (built-in bobbin holder, needle organizer, small velvet compartment). Two sliding drawers open in an accordion-like cascade — ingenious and typical of the era. Brass handle on the main drawer.
Good overall condition given the age. Light wear marks on the wood (natural patina). Opening mechanism functional. Original brass hardware present.
