Sculpture in solid wood depicting a "Venetian Moor" (Blackamoor) in a crouching position, conceived as a base for a crystal coffee table or candlestick holder.
Entirely hand-carved, finished in polychromy with rich gold leaf decorations on the drapery and jewelry. High expressive quality typical of Venetian workshops, dating to the 19th century (the 1800s).
The solid wood structure bears a natural crack on the shell-shaped base that attests to its authenticity. Structurally solid, it shows fascinating signs of age, small veneer losses and chips of white plaster (on the knees and edges).
