Description from the seller
Pair of Savonarola chairs in carved wood
An important pair of Savonarola chairs in carved wood, dating from the early 20th century. Characterized by the classic scissor-like frame with curved and interwoven elements, these seats are distinguished by the richness of the carved decorations and by their remarkable stage presence.
The armrests terminate with elegant, finely carved lion heads, while the removable backs are adorned with ornamental relief motifs featuring central grotesque masks, volutes, and Renaissance-inspired details. The frame, made with shaped slats and assembled according to the Savonarola chair tradition, provides solidity and at the same time aesthetic lightness to the whole.
The harmonious proportions, the quality of the carving, and the historic charm make this pair ideal for studies, lounges, libraries, or environments furnished in classical and neo-Renaissance style.
