The design of this typewriter was conceived by Mario Belinni in 1978. Note that the Olivetti Lettera 12 is the model that followed the Olivetti Lettera 10.
These two models are the first typewriters that no longer require ribbon spools to be used. Indeed, the ribbon spools were replaced by an 8 mm fabric ribbon cartridge. However, it will only be possible to write with black ink cartridges.
