Description from the seller
The specimen we present today at auction is probably the most beautiful and original Fiat 2100 sedan currently for sale anywhere in the world. The car is still with first paint on almost the entire vehicle, except for a few sections touched up over time, but as can be seen from the photos, the car is like new. It has had 5 previous owners and then us, but the previous owner was a dealer who picked it up from an elderly gentleman in Pinerolo, so in recent years the car has been used very little and kept under a cover within a private collection. Not only that, apart from a trip to Venice where its third owner lived, the car has always been in the province of Turin.
Produced in the model’s first year of production (1959), it represents not only an opportunity for its conservation condition but also for being one of the units produced in the first year of the car’s release. In addition to the fact that it is originally registered in Turin.
The doors, both front and rear, close very well (the car feels like a modern one in terms of how easily the doors shut and stay perfectly in line with the body).
There is nothing to report about the car. No damage, no repairs, or any known accidents. Every aesthetic component, every chrome part, every gasket is the original factory item and in the condition it left the factory. All the original stickers with which it left the factory are still present. The bumpers are superbly intact, the lighting, the glass (which are its originals and never replaced), the exterior rubber, everything is in excellent condition. Even underneath, nothing critical is noted. The sheet metal is all original; you can still clearly see the factory rivets, proving the car has never undergone tweaks or accidents. Also in the lower section, as shown in the images, the car preserves its originality.
The car drives very well. All brake pistons have been serviced, all fluids replaced, and plugs changed, but given that the car has its original kilometers, just a new battery was enough and the engine came back to life like new. It has an impressively steady idle for a vintage car. It starts with less than half a turn of the key and settles at idle like a modern car. The engine has no oil leaks or seepage. The gearbox and clutch perform their duties admirably. The tires (CEAT original with whitewalls) are in good condition, although, due to their age, they might need replacement.
The interior, needless to say, is as beautiful as the exterior. The seat fabric is the original Fiat material. The seats are very comfortable and the fabrics show no wear. No rips, tears, or loose seams. They are all intact even in the less visible parts. The dashboard is, in itself, a true spectacle. When cars are cared for this way, getting in is always a pleasure. All components function well. From the opening-windows to the interior lights, to the headlights (both position and low beams), to the taillights, the cabin lighting. Even the light around the cigarette lighter works well.
The upholstery conditions are excellent. The rear door panels still retain their original cellophane. The pockets on them, as well as the window crank handles, seem to have just come off the assembly line and give a sense of sturdiness and integrity that is rare to find in vintage cars. Also the headliner and the sun visors are in excellent condition with no stains or signs of use.
