Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Two neoclassical pewter vases (Acanalados) from Portugal, dating to the mid-20th century, in excellent condition, each 18 cm wide and 30 cm high, finished in plateado with a spiral fluted body.
Description from the seller
They are two pewter vases that stand out for their quality of manufacture and for how faithfully they reinterpret the Neoclassical language in full for the twentieth century. The Artesano 99% mark confirms a pewter alloy of high purity, something very characteristic of Portugal’s most carefully produced items of the era, where the metal was worked with a mix of industrial precision and manual finishing.
Each piece presents an elongated conical body, elegant and well-proportioned, whose sides are molded with a spiral fluting that adds dynamism without losing classical serenity. That spiral relief, deep and regular, creates an appealing play of light, making the metal seem almost animated when it receives lateral illumination.
The domed lids, decorated with the same spiral molding, complete the composition with formal coherence. The small upper finial in the shape of a urn functions as a direct nod to the Neoclassical repertoire: sober, symbolic, balanced.
Taken together, they are vases that combine weight, presence, and refinement, perfect as standalone decorative pieces or as a symmetric pair on a console, fireplace, or sideboard. They very well represent that Lusitanian-Iberian tradition of the mid-twentieth century that managed to update classical languages without losing their essence.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
