AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Unique Wall Shelf from the Compagnons de Vie Collection
BODENSEE is the very first work created for Daniel Heilig's Compagnons de Vie collection in 2018.

The wall shelf is crafted from historic oak planks transported for decades by the Alpine Rhine before eventually washing ashore near Lake Constance. The flowing relief, deep grooves and layered textures were formed naturally by water, sand, weather and time, creating a surface that could never be replicated by hand.

The material was discovered by Daniel Heilig on the shores near Bregenz and carefully preserved in its original condition. To retain the integrity of the wood, only minimal intervention was undertaken. The planks are mounted as floating shelves, allowing their sculptural qualities and extraordinary textures to remain the focal point. BODENSEE embodies the central philosophy of the Compagnons de Vie collection: preserving the soul and history of remarkable materials while giving them a new significance and contemporary purpose.
