Viking Silver Wire Ring, a hand-forged circular silver ring from the Viking Age (circa AD 800–1100) with symmetrical coiled terminals and an overlapping clasp, in good condition and authentic as original, acquired from a private collection in the Netherlands and through an auction house in 2025.
Description from the seller
A hand-forged silver ring crafted from a single thick wire bent into a near-circular form. The ring features distinctive coiled terminals on either side of the closure, where the wire has been wrapped several times to create decorative knots or collars. Across the top, the ends overlap and are secured by a simple hooked fastening, a characteristic feature seen on many Viking-period rings.
The surface displays irregular hammer marks, wear, and oxidation consistent with hand-worked silver. Its robust construction and minimalist ornamentation reflect the practical yet elegant metalworking traditions of the Norse
