Emilia Romagna, 1st edition hardcover in Italian, illustrated and signed on the title page by Franco Fontana, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, 188 pages, 26.5 × 19 cm, excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed copy on the title page by Franco Fontana (born 1933), unique and unavailable in signed copies and virtually unavailable today in unsigned copies on the Internet. 188 pages and about 150 color photographs, Italian texts by Alberto Bevilacqua as well as a one-page text by Franco Fontana. Solid hardcover binding illustrated on the cover. In excellent condition.
This book was published in a Mondadori editor's collection covering all the regions of Italy. The volume on the Veneto region was produced by Gianni Berengo Gardin, the one on Campania by Mimmo Jodice and the one on Sicily by Ferdinando Scianna (see the other listings about them in this same sale). All the books in this collection are organized into different chapters: The territory and its inhabitants, Cities and countryside, Living in the region, Beyond the region, With and without nostalgia.
Franco Fontana was born in 1933 in Modena, Italy. From the outset in photography he chose color and quickly became interested in the representation of the landscape, of which he has become the undisputed master. By removing every superfluous element from his images, he combines lines, shapes, and colors with great economy of means, allowing him to reach a degree of abstraction similar to that of modern painting, and with extreme simplicity of form he composes abstract landscapes that bring together two or three zones of color.
Copy in excellent condition, with slight aging wear (see photo). Book from my personal collection kept as is with the greatest care. Shipped protected with reinforced packaging and international tracking guaranteed.
