AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The Wizard Calculating Machine is a famous pocket-sized mechanical slider (rack-and-pinion addresser), produced in Germany and marketed on a large scale during the 1950s and 1960s. Adding machine with gears that are moved using the included stylus. It is possible to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Original manual included.

On the front there are several vertical grooves (columns).
Each column corresponds to a decimal digit (units, tens, hundreds, thousands, etc.). Guide Numbers: Next to each slot are printed the numbers 0 through 9. Often the upper part of the slot is colored differently (e.g., red or white) to visually indicate when a carry (the change of the tens) is required.
Result View Windows: At the top or center of the machine there are small circular holes (viewing slits) where the numbers of the total calculated appear.
The Metal Stylus: The machine is not operated with fingers. It includes a small pointed metal stylus (resembling a mini-pen) inserted in a dedicated side or top housing. It is used to lever the racks and make them slide.
The Reset Bar: A curved metal tab protruding from the top. By pulling it upward, all the counters inside the windows are instantly reset, ready for a new calculation.
Splendid vintage object even just to decorate a prestigious office or study.
