A pair of gilded bronze Art Nouveau friezes in the Maison Fournier Paris model 2119, dating from 1850–1900, each measuring 16 cm high by 4 cm wide, with original pins and in good condition showing small signs of age and stains.
Description from the seller
Pair of gilded bronze friezes in Art Nouveau style - Maison Fournier Paris - Model 2119
Pair of vertical gilded bronze friezes made by the historic Parisian art foundry Maison Fournier, active in Paris from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. These elements originated as refined ornaments and luxury finishes for the high-end cabinetmaking of the era. The objects are a clear example of the Art Nouveau (Liberty) style of the early 20th century, detectable in the sinuous, fluid lines and in the harmonious vertical thrust of the pierced decorations (measuring 16 cm in height and 4 cm in width). The design evokes phytomorphic and natural forms, merging the delicacy of palm and shell motifs with the elegant flow of leaves and soft tendrils that culminate in graceful scrolls at the base. The back of each piece guarantees its absolute authenticity and origin. In the raw metal casting are clearly impressed both the signature of the renowned foundry "FOURNIER" and the model catalog number "2119". An exceptionally valuable collecting feature is the presence of the original mounting pins and studs still perfectly intact on the back. Finding this era’s mounting system intact is a genuine rarity; a precious characteristic that today allows them to be easily attached and installed on furniture, wooden panels, walls, or frames. The objects are presented in good aesthetic condition, enhanced by the gilding’s luster and its fascinating patina of time. Detailed photographs are an integral part of the description, showing the state of the original gilding, the sharpness of the factory marks, and the integrity of the back pins.
