Versailles Single Cask Rum, distilled in 2004 in Guyana, bottled by Kill Devil at 63.9% ABV after 12 years, 70 cl, with original packaging, limited to 247 bottles worldwide.
Description from the seller
A rare single-cask Demerara rum distilled in July 2004 on the legendary Versailles Wooden Pot Still at Diamond Distillery, Guyana. After 12 years of maturation, it was bottled by Hunter Laing’s Kill Devil label at natural cask strength (63.9% ABV), with no chill filtration or reduction. Limited to just 247 bottles worldwide, this release showcases the distinctive character of one of the world’s last surviving wooden pot stills.
Expected Tasting Notes
Nose
* Tropical fruits and ripe orchard fruits
* Lime zest and citrus peel
* Marzipan, almonds, and spice
* Leather, wood polish, and light industrial notes typical of Versailles distillate
Palate
* Intense and full-bodied
* Clove, pepper, licorice, and oak
* Prunes, raisins, and dark fruits
* Distinctive herbal, earthy, and slightly metallic Versailles character
Finish
* Long and warming
* Leather, oak, spice, dried fruits
* Lingering vegetal and mineral notes characteristic of wooden-pot-still Demerara rum
Collector Interest
Among Demerara enthusiasts, Versailles still bottlings are highly regarded because production volumes are tiny and the wooden pot still produces a distinctive profile unlike Port Mourant or Enmore. The combination of:
* 2004 vintage
* 12 years old
* Single cask
* 63.9% cask strength
* Only 247 bottles
makes this a sought-after independent bottling, especially for collectors of Guyanese wooden-still rums.
