Description from the seller
French Art Nouveau crystal decanter, made in Paris circa 1900, with solid silver mounts by Gustave Veyrat, a Parisian master silversmith active at the turn of the 20th century.
The decanter features a vertically ribbed clear crystal body with elegant proportions and its original crystal stopper. The neck mount and foot are executed in solid silver (950/1000), decorated with flowing floral and vine motifs characteristic of Paris Art Nouveau silverwork.
The silver is fully hallmarked with the French Minerva head (1st standard) and the maker’s mark of Gustave Veyrat, struck on both the neck and the base.
Gustave Veyrat was a registered maître-orfèvre in Paris from 1894 to 1911, whose work is documented through surviving hallmarked objects and official registry records. His output reflects the refined craftsmanship and decorative vocabulary typical of high-quality Parisian silver of the period.
