Description from the seller
Rare and elegant enameled cast iron covered casserole Le Creuset, in a magnificent cobalt blue color, typical of the brand's productions in the mid-1950s.
This single-piece item is distinguished by its harmonious silhouette, its long integrated cast iron handle, and the matching lid. It perfectly represents French know-how in the post-war era, a period during which Le Creuset developed new colors to modernize kitchens while preserving the exceptional performance of enameled cast iron.
The lid bears the Le Creuset molded mark under the enamel as well as the number 20, confirming its authenticity.
The external enamel is remarkably preserved and still presents a very beautiful shine today, evidence of careful maintenance over the decades. The black interior is also in excellent condition with only a slight wear mark at the bottom of the bowl, with no severity or impact on use.

Total length with handle: 30 cm
Diameter/length of the bowl: 20.7 cm
Height without lid: 8 cm
Total height with lid: 11.5 cm

Le Creuset: a century of French excellence
Founded in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, in the Aisne, Le Creuset celebrates its centenary in 2025. For a hundred years, the French manufactory has been recognized as one of the world references in premium enameled cast iron.
Each piece is cast individually in a unique mold and then enameled according to a demanding process that guarantees exceptional quality. Thanks to their legendary sturdiness, Le Creuset pots and casseroles and stockpots often span several generations while preserving their culinary qualities.
The old colorways, now harder to find, are particularly prized by collectors and enthusiasts of vintage tableware.
Advantages of enameled cast iron
- Excellent heat diffusion and distribution.
- Even cooking without hot spots.
- Very high thermal inertia.
- Durable, practically indestructible material.
- Compatible with different heat sources.
- Built to last for multiple generations.
Condition
- Very good state of preservation.
- External enamel remarkably bright.
- Deep, uniform blue color.
- Interior black in excellent condition.
- Slight rubbing visible at the bottom of the bowl, with no consequence on use.
- No significant chips or restorations observed.
A superb Le Creuset covered casserole from the 1950s, in a particularly sought-after blue color. Its excellent condition, elegant presentation, and high manufacturing quality make it both a remarkable kitchen utensil and an iconic collectible piece of French culinary heritage.
