Yashica Electro 35 GTN + Color-Yashinon DX 45mm 1:1.7 — Classic 1970s Japanese Rangefinder with Fast Lens, Aperture-Priority Electronic AE

A working Yashica Electro 35 GTN — the iconic black-finish version of the legendary Electro 35 series, introduced in 1973 and fitted with the highly regarded Color-Yashinon DX 45mm f/1.7 fixed lens. The Electro 35 series is one of the best-selling Japanese 35mm rangefinder lines of all time, beloved for its very fast lens and its pioneering aperture-priority electronic auto-exposure system — capable of shutter speeds from 1/500 s down to ~30 s for excellent low-light and night photography. The black-painted GTN variant is particularly sought-after by collectors.

Appearance:
Vintage cosmetic wear consistent with age. Some light paint wear / patina on the black-painted top plate edges (typical for GTN bodies of this era); leatherette body covering is intact with no peeling. The viewfinder and rangefinder windows are clear. No major dents or serious damage.

Function:
35mm coupled-rangefinder camera with electronically controlled leaf shutter (B, ~30 s – 1/500 s), aperture-priority auto-exposure, Color-Yashinon DX 45mm f/1.7 lens, in-viewfinder "Slow" and "Over" indicator LEDs, hot shoe, mechanical self-timer, B (bulb) mode, and a battery-check button on the rear of the camera.

Confirmed during inspection:
- Shutter: fires correctly
- Film advance lever: operates
- Rewind crank: operates

Battery note:
The Yashica Electro 35 GTN was originally designed for a single 5.6 V PX32 (HM-4N) mercury battery, which is no longer manufactured. Modern replacements include:
- Exell A32PX 6 V alkaline (direct replacement, easiest)
- 4 × LR44 button cells stacked with a paper / foil adapter
- 1 × CR123A + 1 × LR44 combination

Battery is not included; please prepare one separately. The shutter requires a working battery for normal auto-exposure operation; B (bulb) mode works mechanically.

Optical system (lens):
Color-Yashinon DX 45mm 1:1.7 — a fast 6-element Yashica lens widely praised for its sharpness, bokeh, and excellent low-light performance, often compared favourably to SLR standard lenses of the same era. Please refer to the photos for the exact condition of the optics.

Shutter / film chamber:
The electronic leaf shutter blades appear clean. The film chamber and pressure plate are clean overall.

Notes:
The Yashica Electro 35 series remains one of the most recommended starter rangefinders for film photography enthusiasts, and the GTN black-body version is the most desirable variant for collectors. Please refer to the photos for the exact condition. As this is a vintage camera, occasional servicing (CLA) is recommended for long-term reliable use.
