AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Magnificent, antique double-inkstand / writing gear from the Historicism era / Napoleon III (ca. 1870–1890), most likely French manufacture.

* Material & Technique: High-quality cast bronze/brass, gilded, combined with very fine champlevé enamel (cell enamel). The enamel work features delicate, colorful ornamentation (red, dark blue, light blue, white) in the Renaissance/Baroque style.
* Motifs & construction: In the center sits a fully formed putto figure, raising a torch as a symbol of illumination. Flanked by two ink containers with folding, enameled lids. On the front are two curved hooks serving as rests for pen holders.
* Marking: On the underside is an original cast/model number stamped (see photos), underscoring the factory quality.
* Condition: Very good, age-appropriate preserved condition. The enamel is excellent and shows no major chips. The hinges function perfectly. Lovely, authentic patina of age. The glass inner inserts of the ink containers are (as is often the case with pieces of this age) no longer present.
* Origin: France
* Shipping: Safe, impact-resistant packaging and insured parcel shipping.
