Working tool (3) - Chester silver

Three antique Edwardian button hooks with hallmarked sterling silver (.925) handles. In the early 20th century, these elegant items were an essential part of a lady's dressing table, used to fasten the many small, tight buttons on boots, gloves, or corsets.

This lot is highly collectible due to the presence of two items from the Chester Assay Office. Chester officially closed its doors on August 24, 1962, meaning silver from this city is finite.

Birmingham button hook (1907), Chester button hook (1909) and Chester button hook (1912). Handles are genuine sterling silver (.925), the hooks themselves are made of durable steel.
