Bettina Rheims and writer Serge Bramly offer us a modern, provocative, and secular reinterpretation of the Gospel. The photographs blend fashion aesthetics, street portraits, and realistic theatrical compositions. Its production required two years of shooting and the involvement of more than 1,000 extras. The book faced attempts at censorship and marginalization in French bookstores, before obtaining a complete legal "absolution" in the name of freedom of creation and artistic imagination.

Dedication signed "Bettina" on the half-title page. Small signs of handling on the dust jacket and fingerprints on the black endpapers. The rear cover is slightly soiled.
