Drinking service (8) - uraniferous glass - Complete Uranium service

Rare and remarkable antique uranium glass set (ouraline) green, probably made between 1890 and 1920, comprising a large serving platter, a central footed bowl, and six matching small bowls.
This remarkable ancient garniture displays all the hallmarks of artisanal craft from the period: hand-blown glass and laboriously worked by hand, slight irregularities in shape, variations in thickness, fine waviness and small air bubbles trapped in the mass, all details that attest to true old glassmaking know-how and give each piece its own character.
Under ultraviolet light, the whole reveals a spectacular green fluorescence characteristic of ouraline. The UV photos shown in the listing were taken with two different lamps (365 nm and 395 nm in the dark), which explains the nuances visible from one photograph to another.
Uraline is a glass into which uranium has been incorporated, usually in the form of diuranate. Its color can vary from yellow to green depending on its composition and degree of oxidation.
The large central bowl could serve as a compote or a presentation bowl for fruit, confectionery or sweets, while the six small bowls were likely intended for serving liqueurs, digestifs or other tasting beverages. The set rests on a wide matching platter, giving it a particularly elegant presence.
