Description from the seller
A quiet witness of academic history – powerful, dignified and full of symbolism.
This exceptional heraldic paperweight made of marble stone, dated June 1, 1925, transports one into the storied world of early 20th-century student corporations.
An object that is far more than a utilitarian item – it is a fragment of lived history.
The solidly worked stone, marbled in warm hues of rose and green, conveys steadfastness and weight – almost as a symbol of the values it once represented: honor, belonging and memory.
In the center sits a finely crafted coat of arms with a monogram, set within a sculpturally modeled cartouche. The design testifies to high craftsmanship and nods to the heraldic tradition of student corporations. Every detail seems deliberately placed – nothing is accidental.
Below, a simple but striking dedication:
“1. Juni 1925” – a date that raises questions and hints at stories. Was it a graduation? An enrollment? A significant moment in the life of a young academic?
Such pieces were usually made individually – as personal mementos, crafted by local craftsmen in the vicinity of major university towns. This gives each exemplar a unique, non-reproducible identity.
On the condition: The object is authentic & original! Marble object in excellent condition (see photos)! Applications complete & dirty—needs polishing!
