Description from the seller
Christofle France. These are mainly collectible pieces, desk trinkets ("vide-poche") and decorative accessories in silvered metal from the second half of the 20th century.
1. Identification of the Individual Pieces
A. The Palmistry Hand ("Main de Chirognomonie" / "Main de Chiromancie")
Description: It is undoubtedly the rarest and most collectible piece in the group. It is a silvered metal reproduction of a fortune-teller’s hand, inscribed with the palm lines (Ligne de Vie, Ligne de Chance, etc.) and the planetary mounts in French. It originally started life as a desk paperweight or vertical emptying device.
Style/Era: Unusual design, highly sought after by curiosity collectors ("wunderkammer") and Christofle-branded curiosities from the 1970s/80s.
B. The Interwoven Round Box ("Boîte Tressée")
Description: A cylindrical box with a lid characterized by a beautiful interlaced motif (basket-weave or tressé). The base features pierced work that echoes the weave of the lid.
Use: Jewelry box, toilet pill box, or tabletop tobacco/snuff box.
Size: A tape measure shows a diameter of about 10 cm.
C. The Wavy Bowl / Trinket Dish ("Coupelle Torsade / Godron")
Description: A circular dish with torchon-walls or curved fluted grooves (torsades or dynamic godrons), creating splendid plays of light on the silver surface.
Size: Diameter about 12–13 cm.
D. The Rectangular Trinket Plate with Logo
Description: A small rectangular tray with beveled corners bearing at the center the engraving of the "Christofle" mark surmounted by the old crest with the letters "OC" (Orfèvrerie Christofle) and the crown. Often these pieces were used as display pieces in shop windows in historic boutiques or as corporate presentation gifts.
