Situated on the legendary Rabajà hill, Cantina Giuseppe Cortese represents one of the historic, family-run and most traditionally minded realities of Barbaresco. This Barbaresco DOCG arises from a philosophy of maximizing the value of Nebbiolo and the calcareous-clay terroir of the Langhe, working vines with an average age of about 35 years.

The 2021 vintage has been acclaimed by international critics as one of the greatest and most balanced in the last decade in Piedmont. Characterized by steady ripening, it yields a wine of extraordinary freshness, fruit pureness, and a vibrant acidic backbone, elements that guarantee exceptional aging potential. Cortese’s style avoids any exaggerated modernism: here Nebbiolo expresses itself in its pure, austere, and elegant guise, thanks to traditional fermentation and a long resting period exclusively in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Tasting Notes
Color: Bright, luminous garnet red, typical of the youth of great Nebbiolo.

Nose: The aroma profile is refined, sharp, and highly characteristic. Delicate notes of small red berries (raspberry, wild strawberry, and cherry) emerge, intertwined with floral hints of rose and violet, touches of black tea, licorice, wild herbs, and a subtle chalky mineral undertone.

Palate: On the palate it is tense, deep, and exquisitely elegant. The entry is juicy, supported by a dense but already finely integrated tannic structure and by a vibrant acidity that gives extraordinary drinkability. The finish is savory, harmonious, and long-lasting, with a return of small fruits and sweet spices.

Storage and Shipping
The bottles come from a private collection and have been kept in ideal conditions: a temperature-controlled underground cellar (14–16°C) with constant humidity, stored horizontally and shielded from light. Levels, capsules, and labels are in store/collection-like condition (excellent/perfect).
