Two Art Nouveau silver-plated tin vases from France, dating to circa 1900–1910, about 39.5 cm high with a 16 cm diameter, total weight around 5 kg, in good condition with minor signs of age and use.
Description from the seller
This pair of graceful vases may once have stood on the left and right in the stairwell of a bourgeois townhouse. The vases are made of silver-plated tin, as was often the case with other decorative items such as WMF, Kayserzinn, and others. I have owned them for 45 years and I have deliberately never polished them, because preserving the natural patina gives an authentic look that can be appreciated by collectors. Moreover, some small details remain more visible.
Of course, everyone is free to polish the vases if they wish. If a mirror-like high gloss is chosen, they could also be recoated.
It is unclear why they do not bear the signature of the artist, given the elegance and the refined finish of the flower decoration and the striking female figures.
In the necks of the vases are removable copper pots intended for flowers, but aesthetically they are more beautiful without. On the whole, they are in decent condition with signs of aging and use here and there, which is not unusual for items that are around 120 years old. The photos are part of the description.
Considering the typical decoration and the detailed finish, the vases are almost certainly of French origin.
The combined weight is about 5 kg, the height is approximately 39.5 cm, the largest diameter is approximately 16 cm.
The vases are shipped exclusively within the European Union with insurance against damage.
