Antique miniature cassapanca in solid walnut wood, finely carved with inlays, dating from 1850–1900 and produced in Toscana, Italy; 10 cm high, 10 cm deep, 25 cm wide, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Old and distinctive miniature cassapanca chest, in solid walnut wood, crafted in minute detail and finely worked with carvings and inlays, on both the front and the sides. Originating from Central Italy and now rare because difficult to obtain. The measurements are 10 high, 10 cm deep and 26 cm wide with the feet, excluding 23 cm. The miniature furniture models were commissioned to cabinetmakers mainly for two practical reasons:
1) the client's approval, who could preview in scale how the realization of their request would look, complete with inlays, carvings, marble pieces and bronze fittings
2) as a showroom of samples. Often master cabinetmakers created the models/miniatures to show to potential buyers, using them as a modern three-dimensional catalog thus demonstrating their technical skill. Photos are an integral part of the description.
Any additional customs duties will be borne by the buyer.
