Table knife set (12) - Horn, Steel - gift set

Splendid and rare complete set of 12 antique French table knives, produced by the historic cutlery Chalot Corbeil (blades stamped "Chalot Corbeil Inox").
The handles are made of fine natural horn, characterized by a beautiful flame figure and grain ranging from honey-blond to dark brown (authenticity checked by backlighting, as visible in the flashlight photos). The ferrules feature a refined raised geometric Art Deco-style decoration. The set comes with its original vintage presentation case with satin lining.

The set is in good vintage condition, with charming signs of time entirely in line with its almost centennial history (dating to the 1930s):

Blades: Structurally sound, they show widespread superficial scratches due to historical use and to prior domestic cleaning/sharpening over the decades.

Handles: As shown in the macro photographs, one knife displays a superficial crack on the horn handle. This is a natural structural reaction to aging and climatic changes, typical of this organic material after almost a century of history. The other handles are stable and in good condition.

Case: The original box shows evident signs of elapsed time. As highlighted in the image, there is wear and flaking along the edges and outer corners of the brown lining, as well as partial loosening of the lining near the left rear zipper. All these details attest to the authenticity and age of the piece.
