Preghiera Etiope

An Ethiopian prayer scroll made on goat-skin parchment. It includes two traditional illustrations of angels depicted with swords for protection. The text is written in Ge’ez, the liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, using red and black ink. These scrolls are traditionally regarded as protective talismans against diseases or malevolent spirits. The scroll is protected by a leather case with embossed designs. Dates to the first half of the twentieth century.
