Description from the seller
David Hockney
*1937 Bradford/UK - 2026 London
was a British painter, graphic artist, stage designer, and photographer. He is regarded as an influential 20th-century artist with genre focuses on landscape painting and portraiture. Hockney is often described as a leading figure in art closely associated with Pop Art, yet he possesses a distinctive artistic profile.
His works fetch high prices at auctions. For example, his painting “Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures, 1972)” achieved a selling price of $90.3 million at a Christie’s auction on November 15, 2018. Until 2019 it was the most expensive painting ever auctioned by a living artist worldwide.
