Description from the seller
Large Brutalist Bar with Shelving and Stools, Italy, 1970s
A remarkable and highly decorative brutalist bar ensemble crafted in Italy during the 1970s, embodying the rustic sophistication and sculptural spirit that defined the era. Executed entirely in richly patinated solid wood, the piece celebrates the natural beauty of the material, with exposed trunks and organically textured surfaces lending it a striking architectural presence.
The composition comprises a generous bar counter with matching wall-mounted shelving and a pair of coordinating stools, all fashioned from carefully selected timber retaining much of its original character and irregular grain. The vertical log façade and substantial rounded top evoke the atmosphere of refined Alpine lodges and exclusive mountain retreats, while the clean geometric arrangement lends the ensemble an unexpectedly modern appeal.
Combining craftsmanship with sculptural expression, the piece reflects the brutalist sensibilities of the period and bears affinities with the work of celebrated European designers working with solid wood and natural forms.
Presented in very good vintage condition, with a beautiful mellow patina and minor signs of age and use consistent with careful ownership. The structure is sound and sturdy throughout.
Origin: Italy
Period: 1970s
Style: Brutalist
Materials: Solid wood
Condition: Very good vintage condition, with attractive patina and light wear commensurate with age and use.
An imposing and atmospheric ensemble, perfectly suited to a distinguished country residence, mountain retreat or a contemporary interior seeking warmth, authenticity and sculptural character.
