A French wall clock from the 1940s–1950 period with a wooden case and brass details, mechanical movement, 31-day power reserve, quarter striking with multiple bells, dimensions 70 cm high, 35 cm wide and 18 cm deep, weighing about 4 kg, without a winding key, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
It is a wall clock from the first half of the 20th century, a classic wooden-cased piece that preserves all the presence and charm of traditional domestic clocks. The tall rectangular structure is flanked by turned columns that frame the dial and the pendulum aperture, giving it that solemn, slightly architectural air so typical of Central European clocks of the period.
The dial, with Roman numerals and ornate black hands, maintains a sober and elegant design, meant to be read from a distance. Below it opens the pendulum window, where the metal disc with the initials RA stands out, the classic regulation system that allows the movement to be advanced or retarded. That characteristic detail underscores its mechanical nature and its historical authenticity.
The mechanism works, although—as is the case with most clocks of its age—it requires adjustments to regain its optimal precision. It also lacks a key, an item easy to replace but important to complete its use and its presentation as a collectible piece.
The wood, with its warm patina and aged sheen, adds character and a sense of a lived object, a clock that has accompanied generations. Taken together, it is a piece that combines tradition, craftsmanship, and decorative presence, perfect for a classic interior or for those who appreciate historical horology.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
