Description from the seller
Refined Demi-Lune Sideboard in Louis XV Style
Elegant demi-lune sideboard dating from the early 20th century, superb expression of revival taste in full Louis XV style. The furniture, with its sinuous and elegant contoured line, is finely veneered in precious woods with warm hues and is distinguished by the complex geometric marquetry in a three-dimensional pattern (stars and diamonds) that masterfully decorates the convex central door.
The structure combines aesthetics and functionality: it features a wide central compartment and two open, lateral compartments, equipped with elegant shelves, ideal for displaying small collectibles. The body rests on four slender cabriole legs, giving extreme lightness to the composition.
To enrich the antique value of the piece is a refined ornamental apparatus in gilded and chased bronze: applications with foliate motifs on the shoulders of the front legs, a scroll-work frieze on the lower apron, sabot carved on the feet and a fine mouthpiece for the lock to which an ornamental tassel is suspended. To crown, the top is formed by a superb shaped breccia marble slab, edged and protected by a tall and rich gilded brass railing finely pierced with draped motifs.
The condition is excellent, with a deep and luminous patina that enhances its ebanitic craftsmanship and undeniable period charm.
